Cooperation with authorities

Posti Address Services cooperates with several authorities. The most important address information cooperation partners are the Population Register Center and the magistrates. With its different channels, Posti offers the magistrates and the Population Register Center information regarding statutory notifications of change of residence for the population register.

Posti's business is controlled by the Postal Services Act. In Finland, the authority ensuring that the Postal Services Act and all regulations issued by virtue of the Act are followed is the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority.

Change of address notification

When placing a change of address notification, you can give the information to Posti and/or the magistrate. When placing a change of address notification online, by phone, or using the form, you can also give the statutory change of address notification to the magistrate, based on which your taxation municipality, voting place, and access to some social security services will be defined. You must file a change of address notification to the magistrate whenever you move permanently from one home to a new one or when you will stay at another address for more than three months.

By placing the change of address notification in time, you will ensure that your mail will be delivered to you on time. Up-to-date address information will also make it easier for you to do business in your own municipality, ensure that your taxes are paid to the correct municipality, and ensure that you can vote at a nearby voting
